New Customer Service desks!

As building work contines on Level 1 of the LRC our new Customer Service desks are now fully operational! They are located by the entrance to the new Campus Centre in order to be more visible for students using that particular route. Staff will be on hand to help with any Library related enquires you may have.

There is also a new Self Service point for checking books in and out which staff will be happy to demonstrate for you. Otherwise check out our 'Just a Minute' video on Self Issue

Finding a PC in the LRC at Park Square

Whilst Registration continues in the IT Suite it can be a bit difficult to find a PC to work on in the LRC.

There are some
PC's on Level 1 Church End by the Customer Service Desk but you''ll find more on Level 2 and 3 Church End and on Level 1 Park Street.

Don't forget you can also use your laptop as the LRC and most of the university has wifi.

Getting Help in the LRC at Park Square

With all the development work going on in the LRC at the moment, we've set up a temporary Customer Service Desk on Level 1.

If you come up to Level 1. walk through the doors and turn right you'll find the Customer Service Desk near the far wall.

You'll also find the Self Issue terminals and catalogues in this area.

There will be lots of disturbance on this floor in the next few weeks as we continue with our improvements to enhance the learning space.

Print Journals and 900-999.999 items are now in the rolling stack. NB Rolling stack is worth a visit on its own!!
40 + PC's are available for use again.

There is an empty area on level 1 which will be re-developed in the next couple of weeks for the International Office

17 September

The rolling stack is being filled with journals.

We have an installation date for the new Customer Service desk on level 1 Church End.

Things are really starting to take shape trouble is we're at the noisy smelly stage as those customers on level 1 will tell you. In the past week we have been assailed by wafts of varnish, paint and glue each with their own degree of pungency... Hopefully this phase will be over soon.

In the next 2 weeks there will be a lot of disruption on level 1 Church End as the benching in the new pc area is being moved and several partitions are being put in. When its finished their will be a lot more pcs in that area so that's something to look forward to

It's nearly finished!

Well the installation is nearly finished.

As you can see the turning handles are on and the shelves are being fitted. From Tuesday next week we shall start returning the journals and books from their temporary summer home of crates to their new permanent home in the rolling stack.

Carpet going down

Well work is continuing on the rolling stack, the floor has been levelled, tracks installed and now the carpet tiles are going down. It's a bit of a jigsaw according to the fitters but they hope to have it completed by today (Friday).
